Nancy's Library

My sister, Nancy is the Library Assistant at
Sunset Elementary in Altus. She's been there
for nine years and even though I've visited
her many times, I've never seen her library.
It's a cool little library and the kids seem
to get a lot of use out of it.

While I was there, a fourth grade class came
though and each of them checked out 2-3 books.
It's great to see kids this age develop a love
for books. Of course, some of the kids you could
tell were just going through the motions, but
others you could tell really enjoyed reading and
loved the library.

One of the tools that Nancy uses to help teach
the kids about reading and the use of the library
is "Clifford the Big Red Dog". It "talks" to the
kids as a reward, and doesn't talk when they get
the wrong answer or misbehave in some way.
Of course, I don't know how much I would talk if
someone had their hand up my bottom..ha ha.

It was fun to see Nancy's library. It reminded me
a lot of the library we had when I was in Grade School.
Except I think this one was much better. I think
Nancy has a lot to do with that.

Did you see that Pluto's new name is #134340? "They've given you a number, and taken away your name."
