Today is the second day of Dia de los Muertos.
The Day of the Dead. It is the Hispanic
celebration of the memory of deceased ancestors. I
would have to say that there are probably only a
small handful of people at McMurdo that will be
"celebrating" the holiday, let alone even know that
the day exists. My co-worker, Maria is probably one
of them. I will wish her a Happy Dia de los Muertos
when I see her at work today. In the meantime, I will
think of my ancestors and be grateful for everything
they did to make sure I could be here today. Especially
my Grandma and Grandpa Hamann and Grandpa and Grandpa
Smith. I miss them and I hope that that they are
thinking of me today as well.

Hi Tom!
Happy dia de los Mueros to you too! I'm probably the only person I know that knows of this celebration too. Ever had a sugar skull?
I've been keeping up on your adventure on the ice. I must admit I'm learning quite a bit, I didn't realize how many people were actually down there.
Take care and I'll keep checking in .
Michelle
I forgot to say Happy Birthday too!
I'd write Feliz Cumpl....in spanish for you but I wouldn't spell it correctly! :-)
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!
