The other day I wrote about Mount Erebus and how
you can easily forget about it since it's dark out
and even if it wasn't, our view of it is blocked by
several hills around McMurdo. I ran across this
photo by Chad today that shows how massive it
really is. McMurdo is the overly-bright area at the
bottom of the screen. Just the completely overwhelming
size of this volcano reminds me of the old joke: What
do you give a 500 pound gorilla? Anything it wants. I
hope Erebus never wants anything.
