Deal or No Deal

I'm not a devotee to any network television show and
that's probably a good thing since the television we
get and the quality of programming we receive on the Ice
is suspect anyway. (The quality of network television is
pretty suspect in general, so no real big difference
there) However, one show I've watched a lot of while
being in the States and might miss once we go south, is
the game show Deal or No Deal with Howie Mandel. It's
so popular, a version of it is shown in 68 different
countries. Yes, it's a goofy game show that takes little
or no intelligence to play, but it's fun to watch and
not surprisingly, human nature takes over and one roots
for or against the contestants. You hope contestants
you like win a million dollars while you hope contest-
ants you don't like win 1 cent. Does that make me
shallow?

I loved the Italian version even though I couldn't understand a thing they were saying. The host comes out in his amazing Italian suit. Within five minutes, the jacket is off. A few minutes later, the tie is loosened. Then the tie is off. Then the shirt is a little unbuttoned. The entire time, the host is pacing back and forth and sweating and nervous and peeking into the boxes. Much more entertaining than Howie.

It doesn't make you shallow; it just means that you've been on the ice too long. :)
