It's pretty big news when we get someone visiting McMurdo that
doesn't "belong" here. Meaning, they're out of the ordinary.
This time every year it seems, we get a tourist ship chugging
into McMurdo Sound, bringing several scores of tourists...each
of which have spent upwards of 10,000 dollars for the privilege.
I didn't get to see any of the tourists this year because I was
working, but I understand that they were everywhere, looking
at us McMurdoans with a eye of curiosity. Kind of like we were
penguins or something!
