JUCO
For one week every May, the eight best Junior College
baseball teams in the country meet in Grand Junction for
the Junior College World Series (JUCO) baseball tournament.
We try to go to one of the games and this year we saw Western
Iowa Community College play Crowder College of Missouri.
The weather was near perfect with a slight breeze blowing
out. This definitely was to Western Iowa's advantage as they
scored five quick runs in the first inning and didn't let up
as they ended up winning 12-0 in seven innings. It was
definitely a family-oriented crowd and everyone (except
the Crowder fans) seemed in a good mood on a holiday
weekend. Suplizio Field is a great place to watch a ball
game and it will be fun to see a game there again next
year.
