It's hard to believe that the last Concorde flight was ten years ago
today. While taking off from Aéroport Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG),
it hit a part that had fallen off an aircraft that has previously departed.
This caused a fire on the Concorde that eventually caused it to crash.
I remember having more than just a slight interest in this because we
had just flown in and out of CDG on when we went on our honeymoon
in Paris just nine months prior. Sadly, 109 people on the plane and
4 people on the ground lost their lives. Hopefully someday supersonic
air transport will return to the skies, making our plane trips much
much shorter.
