My Birthday

I received several nice surprises on my birthday today.
First, when I got up, I found that Kaska and Jamie who
work in Air Services with me, had given me my own slide
on the Channel 7 television scroll!

Then, when I got to work, I found that someone (I suspect
Lynn and Christen) decorated my desk. All in all it was
a pretty nice birthday, even though I had to work.

Friday The 13th

We're starting to have pretty bad weather,
so that seems appropriate, being Friday the
13th. We did get two planes out of here going
north, early this morning, but everything else
has been cancelled for the day. I can't
remember seeing this much red on the flight
scroll in some time. The weather is supposed
to get even worse, so it looks like a few
slow days ahead for ATO.

Channel 7

One of our jobs in Air Services is to keep the
community informed of what time flights are
arriving, departing and where they are going
to and coming from. We have a dedicated
computer in our office in which we have to
change the information on a PowerPoint
spreadsheet. This then appears on Channel 7
on the local television network and hopefully
people read it and are informed.

It's Almost Here

A sign that the upcoming flight is going to be here
before we know it is the fact that the television
scroll announcing flights has been updated after
seven weeks of unchanging power point slides.

The last stage before the flight is the Bag Drag, in
which all of the passengers of the flight need to come
into the Movement Control Center (MCC) to have their
bags and themselves weighed and readied for the flight
the next day. That's another one of my jobs. As of
now, we have 95 people leaving on ACH055, but that number
seems to be growing by the day.
