Snow in Christchurch

We awoke on Monday morning to a fair deal of snow
that had fallen on Christchurch. It was only the 4th
time in 100 years that there had been a measurable
amount of snow in September. It was slightly
interesting that almost everything shut down,
including schools, the airport and many businesses,
all because less than 10 centimeters of snow had
fallen. The sad thing though, is that this occurred
during the lambing season and many of the sheep
farmers lost many of the newborn lambs that had
recently been born in the rural areas. Only a day
later, most of the snow has melted, leaving a dusting
remaining on the Port Hills outside of town.
