Allegiant Air Coming to Town

This week, a press conference at Walker Field, complete
with a Vegas showgirl, was held announcing that Allegiant
Air will begin offering twice weekly flights from Grand
Junction to Las Vegas. In additon, the cost will only
be $59.00 per person each way. You can't even make the
7 hour drive to Vegas that cheaply. Now that Allegiant
is coming, it's possible to fly to all of the major
large cities surrounding Grand Junction nonstop. These
include Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
The only nearby city not served directly is Albuquerque.
Maybe in the future.
Speaking of the future, the Daily Sentinel reported this
week that there is more than a good chance that there
will be minor league baseball in Grand Junction next
summer. The independent Golden League, a non-affiliated
Class-A league just expanded to St. George, Utah. The
league president stated that Grand Junction would be a
perfect fit for an additional team in the league. All of
this in addition to rumors of a minor league hockey team
being formed to play in the recently built ice arena.
Big (and good) changes are on the way.
