Corn Lake

Today we visited Corn Lake. Well, we did a drive-by of
Corn Lake. We were in the neighborhood and it looked
inviting, so we did a quick look and see and decided to
go back another time. Corn Lake is part of the Colorado
River State Park. The Colorado River State Park is a
Five unit park comprised of different scenic and recreational
spots along the Colorado river, from east of Palisade to
Fruita. Several of the locations, such as Corn Lake, are
old gravel quaries that have filled in with seepage water
from the River and have been turned into recreation areas.



While we were there, we saw lots of ducks and geese near
and in the lake and lots of people spending the day fishing
off of the bank. You have to have a yearly State Park Pass
to visit the park but it's a fairly good deal if you use
it frequently.



The fishing on this 97 acre lake is supposed to be fairly
good, with rainbow trout, catfish, bluegill, crappie and bass
available. There's a boat launch onto the river here and lots
of picnic tables and a hiking trail along the lake and the
river. Overall, it's a nice place to spend a quiet evening
or morning, but seems like it would be pretty hot during
midday.
