BEEP BEEP BEEP

If there was one sound that defines McMurdo it
would be BEEP BEEP BEEP (use your imagination
here...picture in your mind a truck backing up)
It doesn't matter what time of day it is, IF
it's not within sight, it can be heard off
in the distance. BEEP BEEP BEEP. Here it is
the sound of loaders and other similar heavy
equipment. This photo is of our friend, Phil
who will be working with us this winter.
There's more than a good chance I'll be driving
one of these monsters as well. In the meantime,
there's no escaping the BEEP BEEP BEEP. I hear
it at night when I try to sleep. I hear it while
I'm walking to work and I even heard it the other
day while I was brushing my teeth.
