Ugh
On Sunday, we're giving tours of the Discovery Hut
and I'm organizing it and am acting as one of the
tour guides. Unfortunately there was some confusion
where the key was located. It's locked because as a
historical building, there are lots of valuable artifacts
inside that would otherwise walk away. I had a key, but
it wasn't labeled so needed to try it in the lock. I
picked the coldest, windiest day we've had so far this
season with the ambient temps at -20 and wind chills of
-50. Fortunately I was able to drive most of the way
(with Lynn riding shotgun). I got out of the van and
had the wind blow me to the hut where thankfully the key
worked. On the way back to the van though it was miserable.
Those winds and cold were blasting right into my face and
actually took your breath away. Lynn was smart enough to
stay in the van. It was only about 1/8 of a mile walk, but
it was one of my coldest experiences down here. It's been
colder and windier but I've usually had the sense to stay
inside. Duh. Hopefully the weather will be nicer on Sunday
for the tours. Otherwise there might not be any tours.
