Tom, your Dad looks so familiar. Might our paths have crossed? I've lived in central Illinois all my life, in Peoria now. I was a nurse practitioner.

I can see where you look a lot like your dad! What a nice legacy to have pictures from so long ago. I'm so glad you were able to be home at this time. It doesn't seem like it now, but after awhile you'll be able to speak of him without your heart seizing up momentarily. I know....my dad passed away in '91. Even though it was expected, it's still a shock to the system. It will be a big adjustment for your mom. Be extra nice to her now....

Tom,

I am so sorry. I just caught up with your blog today. You didn't even know I was following it. I've enjoyed it so much.

I lost my Mom unexpectedly in June and I was at Palmer Station. I didn't even make it home for the funeral. Mom and I were exceptionally close. I am still grieving incredibly.

I can feel your pain - even if every grief is different, I understand the intensity in some way. I am so, so sad.

Thank you for posting the photos of your parents. It is very comforting to me, even if I didn't know them. I hope they are somehow comforting to you also.

My thoughts are with you!
