Hacked!

We woke up this morning to the phone ringing several times. Odd, since
we hardly ever get any calls and we usually let the machine get it anyway.
Most times, it's someone trying to get elected or trying to sell us something.
However...this morning, it might have been someone actually concerned
for my safety! When I turned on my computer and checked my Yahoo
email, I wasn't able to access it. Apparently overnight, someone hacked
into my account and sent all of my contacts this message:

"I'm sorry this had to come in a hurry,I am caught up in a real mess and i need
your help.I regret i didn't tell you about my trip to the United Kingdom before
i left,I am in Wales,United Kingdom and a terrible thing happened to me over
the night.I was mugged at gun point , the muggers made away with all my
belongings. My cell phone, credit card, cash and some important documents
are all gone.I was able to make contact with the UK Police and i was directed
to the Embassy, but they seems to be taking things too slow... My flight leaves
soon but i am having problems sorting out my hotel bills and also need getting
my ticket straightened out. I need your help so urgently, please reply asap.So i
can tell you how to go about it..

Hope to read from you soon..."

As a result, I had to send everyone in my address book an email and updated
my Facebook account to announce that I wasn't in the UK, hadn't been mugged
and I didn't want anyone to send me money. (Actually it would be great if people
DID send me money, but not for this reason).

So I think I survived my first hacking experience. All is well...at least for now!

I had that same email sent to me last month from a friend of mine as she had been hacked. I wrote to her on facebook letting her know I think she was hacked as it didn't sound like her at all and indeed she was. It's going 'round. Watch out! :)
