Buckminster Fuller

This is a picture of the construction of the Dome at the South Pole
during the 1972-1973 austral summer. It's very much in the style of
Buckminster Fuller http://www.bfi.org/ who invented the geodesic
dome. It's kind of sad that the South Pole's dome is being dismantled
after all these years, although I've heard recently that it may be saved
and rebuilt somewhere back in the United States. It would be a great
tribute to Mr. Fuller and the 300,000 domes based on his original
designs that currently dot the globe.
