By the Sea

The nicest thing we've been able to to do every day since
we've been here is to take a walk along the beach. There's
a good walkway above the rocky section that lets you go
up and down the beach even if it's high tide. This time
of year the water isn't warm enough to venture into
anyway, so it's probably for the best that it isn't very
easy to dip your toes into the surf. Today is one of those
rainy, cloudy days that are great to stay inside and read
a good book. I'm currently reading the book Sarum
which seems appropriate since it's a book about the
founding of England and we're in the most English of
NZ cities. Most of the Ice people we know have now
left the city and we pretty much have all of the
Christchurch area to ourselves. In a way, it feels like
our holiday has truly started.
