Not all roads at McMurdo are created equal. The very
fact that we have "roads" at all seems out of place
in Antarctica, but since nothing else makes sense about
McMurdo being located where it is, I guess roads make
sense. Anyway, there are very few roads being plowed
this winter. The ones that aren't are marked in Red on
the map above. The road won't be necessarily closed, but
it won't be plowed either. Hmmm. So if you want to
walk on the road, fine, but no driving. Since most of
the trucks are being taken away for the winter, I guess
that won't be a problem anyway. It truly is a harsh
continent.
