Achy Sunday

It's tough when your mind thinks you're younger than
you really are and then you wake up in the morning with
the realization that your body doesn't necessarily do the
things you want it to. At least without some resistance
or consequences. I woke up this morning pretty darn
achy. Not from the crummy bed, but because I was having
fun. From 5th grade to 8th grade I played drums in the
school band. I quit and hadn't played a drum of any kind
since. Last night I spent a couple of awesome hours beating
the heck out of a pair of conga drums at the Midwinter
Freakout. For the uninitiated, the Midwinter Freakout is
just that. People freaking out! I'll talk more about this
in a future post when I get some awesome photos that people
will put on the I:drive this week. Besides getting all
dressed in crazy costumes there's lots of music and dancing.
Kind of a tribal rave thing, but not quite. I don't dance,
but that doesn't mean I don't have a good sense of beat.
There were conga drums next to the rest of the instruments
and I just picked up where I left off 29 years ago. However,
as I beat away on the drums with the tips of my fingers, I
knew that I would be paying for it in the morning. A couple
people told me that I wouldn't be able to type for the next
couple of days. Apparently they were wrong because here I
am, blogging away. I do feel a few aches and pains though
as maybe a got a little too into it. Maybe
not. Regardless, I had a great time, stayed up until 2:00am
beating on drums and enjoyed being with my friends. Now if
I can get over this feeling old thing.
