Chicagoland was saddened today with the death of John Drury.
He was one of the fixtures of Chicago News Reporting. Back
in the day when reporting the news wasn't infotainment, but
something newscasters did to inform the public. I remember
watching John on the Channel 7 (ABC) news with the "Dream
Team" of himself, Fahey Flynn, Bill Frink and John Coleman
(The founder of the Weather Channel). He also anchored on
Channel 9 (WGN) which always seemed to be on in our house.
Suffering from complications of ALS, he passed away Sunday
at age 80. He will be missed.
