Frequently, at this time of year, we have a phenomenon in
the sky called a Sun Dog, or Parhelion. This is caused when
light is refracted through atmospheric ice crystals, making
it appear that there are one or two "false" suns accompanying
the sun in the evening or morning hours. Almost always low
in the sky, they make for a nice addition to our scenery. We
haven't had much sunshine the past few weeks, but Wade, one
of the Electricians here, captured one the other day on the
other side of Scott Base.

Wow, I was cruising through some blogs and found your post about the Sun Dog. I had not heard that term for over 30 years when my dad would point them out. Wow, you brought back memories.
