Winterover Patch

A while ago, I wrote about the patch contest that was
being held here at McMurdo. Every winter, members
of the community are asked to submit designs for a
winterover patch. My creative juices (or artistic talent
for that matter) weren’t flowing, so I did not submit an
entry. But, Christine Gamble-Powell did and she won
with the really nice entry pictured here. Because it is
the 50th winterover crew, this entry for this year had
to denote that somehow on the patch, as well as state
“McMurdo” somewhere on it. There were about a
dozen entries and since I voted for this one and I am
the resident patch nerd around here, I was pleased.
