I Won Tickets!

I don't usually watch the noon news and on that rare occasion that I do,
it isn't KREX Channel 5. Nothing against them, but it's just not something
we watch. However, today was different. I was sitting in the kitchen,
checking email when I saw a story about the Grand Valley Beer Festival.
It caught my attention, because it was supporting Colorado Mesa University's
Maverick Club...and, we like good beer!   Anyway, the tv station was giving
tickets away to the event for commenting on their Facebook site.  I already
belong to their site, so I commented.  And you know what?  I won tickets!
This wouldn't be something we would normally go to since it was $25 per
person to attend.  But to attend for free?  Yes, I can afford that!

Mom's on Facebook!

Mom asked me when we got here if I'd help her sign up
on Facebook. Mom's pretty talented on the computer. She's
actually more savvy then she leads others to believe. Regularly,
she checks her email, websites, my blog and of course, the
occasional game of solitaire. So, in a way, her asking me to
help her join Facebook was not that big of a surprise. We just
signed her up and she already has 12 friends. Of course
most are her family members, and she'll mostly use it to
look at photos of the grandkids, but it's great that she's
staying on top of technology and keeping in touch with
the world through her computer!

I'm Told it's Cosmic

Lynn and I are addicted to a game on Facebook called
FarmTown. Essentially, you plant seeds, grow crops, harvest
crops and make or lose money. All kind of like real farming
except it's on a computer and it's kind a social interaction with
others. Much more than real farming...anyway, I digress.
I was just thinking this morning how it would be nice to have
another crop option to plant that is quicker to germinate than
grapes, which is four hours...maybe Raspberries.
Well...lo and behold, what pops up as an option this evening
(along with other new choices)...RASPBERRIES...and a germination
time of 2 hours! I think it's an uncanny coincidence.
Lynn tells me it's cosmic. Maybe I should play the lottery...NOW!

Visit With Deneen

If you love Facebook or you hate Facebook, it is definitely
good for one thing: Helping you know where people are
at any given time around the world. Our friend Deneen is
backpacking through Peru and Ecuador and when she saw
that we are in Quito, she wrote us and asked if we could
get together. Coincidentally, she was staying in the Secret
Garden Hostel, where we had checked out just the day before.
It was definitely a nice visit as we hung out and talked for
hours and went to an Ecuadoran restaurant in the Mariscal.
Tomorrow, she's off to the Cloud Forest near Mindo.

World Domination

I have become addicted to a game on Facebook called
World Domination - Total War. it takes absolutely no skill.
It costs no money. Absolutely no mental faculties are
required at all. My country, "Turdistan" however, is slowly
climbing the ranks of other "nations" within Facebook.
What will this mean in the long run of anything and
everything? Absolutely nothing. It's a total waste of
time. Maybe that's why I enjoy it!
